Believe in Yourself

If you have a burning desire to do something new then my advice to you is do it or at least have a go.  Do not let other peoples reactions put you off even if they roll their eyes at you, or you are met with a big sigh or even laugh at you. On far too many occasions I have put off something that I wanted to do for fear of peoples reactions and opinions.  I guess it was a lack of confidence, but by putting off the things that you would like to do is only making you unhappy, you are ignoring your own needs and that is not good because you matter just as much as everybody else does.  How can you encourage others, your family, your children, your friends to try something new when you will not try things for yourself.  In an ideal world we would all like the people around us to support us in our ventures but the reality is they sometimes do not, whether they think your idea is impossible, they do not think it is right for you, they might think you will fail, they do not take you seriously, it might even make them feel uncomfortable because you are doing something new and they are stuck in a rut, it might even make them question their own lives.  Whatever other people’s reactions are do not let them stop you from doing the things that you want to do because as long as you are not hurting anybody what is the harm and you will be a happier and healthier person for it too. Besides they will soon come around to the idea once they see how happy you are for trying.   There may be times when things do not go to plan with your new venture and that is okay, a bit of problem solving or a few challenges a long the way is good because that is where the best lessons are found.  Do not let any problems or challenges stop you, persevere and keep going towards your goal for as long as your heart still wants it.  The time to stop is when it is starting to make you unhappy, nothing is worth that, I have said it before and I will say it again and again, life is to short to be unhappy.  If you are feeling unhappy take a step back, leave it alone for a while, go and do something else.  The decision to continue will come in your own time as to whether it is right thing for you and if it turns out that it isn’t that is absolutely fine, at least you have tried.   You will have gained valuable experience and lessons that you can use another time in your life so never think it was a wasted time.  Another project or idea will come to you soon, that’s if you have not got one already up your sleeve.  Once you have opened your mind up to doing one new thing I am sure there will be another 10 things if not more that you would like to try.  There are so many things to do and opportunities out there we really are spoilt for choice, the world is our oyster we just spend too much time believing that we cannot do something.

So put something down on paper today, what are the things that you would most like to do in your lifetime?  Make a list today and follow your dreams.  Sometimes I feel like I have lived a few life times I have packed so much stuff into my 37 years (almost 38).  I still have a few things on my list that I would like to do and I have no doubts that I will come up with a fair few more in the years to come.

  1. Enjoyed your thought provoking blog.
And I knew you before and after the many new challenges you have faced. Great to read how you have grown that you now inspire others.

Being happy with yourself or loving yourself is crucial to moving on in life. When I went back to my faith I learned to like myself again. That inner peace, comfort and confidence helps you face the challenges of life.

    Keep writing.

    • Thank you Gail for your lovely comment, it really is appreciated. I agree liking and loving yourself is definitely the key to moving forwards xxx Maybe one day I will write about a little trip we once had, I am sure that is where this all started, such a short time but changed everything 😉 x
